Philippine-American War Corrective Plaque
After an eight year effort, PSGM successfully corrected an historically inaccurate plaque about the Philppine-American War that hangs in the Minnesota State Capitol. The offending plaque holds several facts incorrect and uses language offensive to Filipinos. PSGM proposed that a permanent corrective plaque be installed beside the original plaque.
The corrective plaque was dedicated at a special ceremony on February 4, 2002. It was installed by PSGM, the Capitol Area Architectural Planning Board, the Minnesota Historical Society, and the Minnesota Department of Administration, using a $10,000 appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature.
These events make Minnesota the first state in the nation to correct a misleading commemorative plaque from the Philippine-American War.
